I have spent over 7 years working as a sole charge nanny for various families in South London. I cared for children from newborn to 6 years. I found nannying to be challenging and very rewarding. No two days are ever the same and I became very good at thinking on my feet and using my intuition. I especially enjoyed the close bonds I formed with the children in my care and am still in contact with many of them now. This has enabled me to watch them grow and develop.

I have had several jobs working with groups of children ranging from reception classes to toddler music groups. I have enjoyed helping the children learn and gain the necessary social skills that will help them develop into confident young adults.

Over the years I have had several voluntary roles including key worker at a residential summer camp for disadvantaged children. More recently I have been an active team leader at my local Brownie pack. I have enjoyed working with this age group (7 to 10). This, combined with my work in the crèche at church, has enabled me to contribute to my local community.

Since starting my own family I have built upon my role as a nanny helping families overcome challenges of raising children in a ‘troubleshooting’ capacity. This has included sleep training infants and toddlers, establishing routines and getting breast fed babies to feed from bottles. I find this work exceptionally rewarding as it equips parents with useful strategies and the confidence to implement them.

I have always enjoyed creative writing and this has enabled me to write articles for varied publications. Subjects range from how to keep the kids busy during the holidays to top tips for potty training. I enjoy being able to reach a wider audience as well as providing helpful advice and tips. I have my own column in Nanny Tax News which is published quarterly.

The birth of my children has given me a deeper insight into the emotional aspects of parenting and an appreciation of the demands placed on modern day families.
